Murder denied
■ South Africa has rejected an accusation by the Zimbabwe Government that agents of the white-ruled republic were responsible for the killing of a leader of the banned African National Congress. Joe Gqabi. The Department of Foreign Affairs. in the first official response to the accusation, said in a statement: “The accusation was apparently aimed at protecting the real murderer because it would embarrass the Zimbabwe Government if the organisation responsible was exposed."—Johannesburg.
