Assessment of S.I. coal
PA Wellington The Liquid Fuels Trust Board is funding 14 separate programmes to assess the mining and commercial potential of lignite coal in the South Island, said the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch), answering a question in Parliament about the use of coal for liquid fuels. The assessments, costing more than $1 million, would indicate whether a synthetic fuel industry based on the coal, would be feasible. .
