Chathams windmill test stops
Tests on a wind generator for the Chatham Islands have been suspended until the Ministry of Works and Development receives engineering advice, from West Germany.
An electrical engineer in the Ministry, Mr David King, said the machine, designed by M.A.N. of West Germany, was a prototype. M.A.N. and the Ministry were co-operating during testing of the machine, which would be hooked in to the Chathams’ electricity grid. The testing at Lincoln College had been setback until the Ministry received details of tests in West Germany.
