Man disappears in Westport
Westport reporter The police are searching the beaches near Westport for the chief engineer of the Fisheries research vessel James Cook. Stanley Lowe, aged 40, a married man, of Nelson, has not been seen since he went ashore last Wednesday evening to watch the Royal wedding on television. He is described as 185 cm (6ft lin) tall, with dark,
thinning hair. When last seen he was wearing brown trousers, a brown plaid jacket, matching hat and thick-lens spectacles. The police made a public appeal for information on Friday, but so far no-one has reported seeing Mr Lowe, a Scotsman, since he left the ship. They say he is a particularly responsible man and his disappearance is totally out of character.
