Braille collection

Christchurch people have given $68,000 to this year’s Braille Week appeal and donations are still coming in.

Figures for Christchurch should reach $70,000 which would represent an increase of 12 per cent on last year, according to the Braille Week regional fund-raising organiser, Mrs J. D. Rowley.

“We are delighted with the response, especially as totals from nearby small towns and country areas are still to come in." she said.

Nationally, the Braille Week appeal has not fared so

well. So far. this year’s total is barely level with last year's.
