With the cold showery conditions contributing to handling errors and a consequently lower standard than expected. Canterbury beat Wellington. 33-23. in a representative netball match at Bagley Courts.
Although neither team settled down as a combination until well into the first half. Canterbury enjoyed its periods of greatest prosperity at this time, leading 20-11 at half-time.

Two hours earlier. Wellington gave all its players a run m the practice game against Canterbury Country, just scraping through to a 26-24. win.
The atrocious conditions on Saturday were handled surprisingly well - a lesson for their seniors, perhaps - by the
Canterbury under-16 team. Showing maturity beyond their years. the young players beat "Otago under-18 for the West Cup. 24-22 y In other representative games, "j Ellesmere heat Canterbury third ■» grade. 32-21; North Canterbury E beat Canterbury fourth grade,' 19- J 18; and Canterbury under-15 beat _> North Canterbury F, 15-14.
