School debating final
The regional final of a debating competition for secondary schools will be fought between Rangiora High School and Christchurch Boys' High School on Friday. New Zealand Jaycees and the Bank of New South Wales are sponsoring the national contest, which is designed to produce a national champion through a knock-out competition. "That money spent on long distance road transport, of
goods would be better spent on the Railways" will be the topic debated at the English Park Lounge, in Cranford Street, on Friday. The winner will be the North Canterbury-West Coast champion, and will go on to meet another South Island regional winner. A North island team and a South Island team will meet in the national final of the competition.
