Bread up 3c a loaf
Bread went up by 3c a loaf yesterday, the fifth time this year that it has risen in price. The latest price rise is as a result of the increase in the price of flour, which was approved yesterday. Elost bakeries raised their prices by 2c to 3c a loaf only three weeks ago. although one managed to postpone the rise until one week ago.
Before that, prices rose on January 5, February 5. and April 5.
An unsliced standard loaf has increased by 22c since the beginning of the year, when it was 48c. It is now 70c.
Buns and rolls have increased in price similarly. Sandwiches and filled rolls s<'ld by snack bars and dairies are likelv to cost more now.
