Billiards title to Richmond
Richmond has won the premier A inter-club billiards title, and it did so with a dramatic last-round win over Kaiapoi, which needed only one win from the three games to be safe. But Richmond won all three, although only its ton player, Ken Giles, had a comfortable margin. Riccarton pipped Kaiapoi for second and if it could have improved on its 2-1 win over Hornby, it would have overtaken Richmond as well. Brian Kirkness was in great form for Riccarton, scoring two century breaks, one unfinished. The final points are:Richmond 30 Ws, Riccarton 30, Kaiapoi 29Vs, Woolston 21, Hornby Post Office A 15,
