Manawatu deserves win
PA Palmerston North Manawatu deserved its 159 national chmapionship rugby win against Auckland, at Palmerston North on Saturday, because it made better use of its opportunities. The match was very much a battle between the tall Auckland line-out and the Manawatu scrum, plus the
defensive capabilities of Manawatu’s experienced inside back pairing of Mark Donaldson and Doug Rollerson. Scorers: Manawatu 15 (Rollerson, 2 dropped goals, penalty conversion; Craig Wickes a try); Auckland 9 (John Collinson a try, Richard Dunn a penalty and conversion).
