Hayes wins S.I title
Rod Hayes (Christchurch), the current leader on the T.P.C. national squash circuit, won his first South Island men’s title when he beat John Mills (Wellington Collegians), 9-7, 9-2, 9-0, in the final at Invercargill yesterday. In the' first game Mills went to a 6-1 lead as his opponent frequently found the tin at the end of hard rallies, but the North Islander then seemed to run out of puff and gained only three more points in the match. THe contest took only 24min with Hayes in particu-
larly devastating form in the third game. He hit the ball very crisply and Mills was unable to get his tight boasts and drops.
