Planning Council appointment

Wellington reporter ; The president of the Canterbury Trades Council (Mr Wes Cameron) has been appointed to the New. Zealand Planning Council. His appointment was announced yesterday by the Minister of National Development (Mr Birch). Mr Cameron, who will serve for four years, replaces Mr E. G, Thompson, vicepresident of the Federation of Labour, who has served since the council’s inception in 1977.

Mr Cameron is vice-presi-dent of the New Zealand Meatworkers’ Union and secretary of the Canterbury, Marlborough, Westland branch of the Meatworkers’; Union. He has been full-time organiser with the union since 1965 before which he; was a blade shearer and freezing worker. 4
