Germans scale Palace walls
Three young West German looking for a place to sleep scaled the three-metre high wall round Buckingham Palace last Friday and spent the night in the grounds undetected. Scotland Yard has disclosed. The incident happened amid a tightening of security round Britain's Roval Family after a British youth fired six blanks from a pistol a few feet from the Queen in London on June 13. A spokesman for Scotland Yard declined to identify the Germans, but said they were hitchhikers who said they mistook the palace grounds for London’s Hyde Park,
which is about I.6km away, the Press Association reports.
