Airfares up by 6 p.c.
1 A . Auckland Air fares between New Zealand and Australia will rise by up to 12 per cent from July 8. The increase, which applies only on fares out of New Zealand, is to take account of changes in bank rates of exchange. It affects all fares bought from- today for travel on or after July B.' Since December, when the last fare increase was granted, the Australian dollar has moved a, further 9.9 per cent ahead' of the New Zealand dollar. ;
The new’ fares average out at a 6 per cent increase, witli a low of 3 per cent and a peak of 12 per cent. ? Passengers travelling on Epic fares during the high season will pay $428 compared with’ the existing $402, while fn the low season thefare will increase from $270 to $304.
