The formation of a national basketball league has come one step closer this week, with formal approval for the idea being given by' the New Zealand Basketbail Federation's executive. The federation's president, Mr Graeme Davey, of Christchurch, said a sub-committee had been formed to oversee the establishment of a league and entries would be called for in the next week.. After good support for the national league idea at the men's national club basketball championships Auck-

land earlier this month, the federation's executive meeting in Christchurch last week-end decided to support .the idea. Mr Davey said there would be no designation on teams competing in the league as to whether they were club teams or representative sides. The only stipulation put forward by the federation is that each team must . be approved by its governing basketball association. "The important thing is to .. get the league going,'*. Mr .
