Mr Bruce Woods succeeds
Mr Bruce Woods, of Christchurch. a past-president of the New Brighton Trotting Club, has won an election for one of three South Island seats on the executive of the Trotting Conference. Mr Woods fills a vacancy which resulted from the retirement of Mr Colin Maynard. of Winton.
The other two. retiring' members, Messrs Jack Phillips, of Timaru, and Les Woods, of Motukarara, were re-elected. The unsuccessful candidates were Messrs Viv jAnngow, of Dunedin, Bob tDayne, of Greymouth, Jim pynes, of Invercargill, and [Peter Hope, of Blenheim, p The retiring North Island ■members of the executive. Messrs Lionel August, of Wellington, and “Goff” Macdonald, of New Plymouth, were re-elected. The unsuccessful candidate was Mr Jack Knight, of Franklin. Mr Charlie Elliott, of Morrinsville, retained the North Island vice-presidency, defeating Mr Noel Taylor, of Auckland.
Sir James Barnes, of Dunedin, won a three-way election for the South Island seat on the Racing Authority. The unsuccessful candidates were Messrs Martin Dawson, of Christchurch, and Norman Pierce, of Invercargill.
