Staff reinstated
A sit-in by, the sacked staff of Treister Hats, Ltd. ended on Friday night with their reinstatement. . The eight women? workers took protest action after tiiey were all. given notice on Friday afternoon. ' The i secretary of . the Canterbury Clothing Trades Union,; Mr H. McCrory, said the firm’s manager, Mr A. Treister, had - told the workers that they were no longer required and offered
them one week's pay in lieu I of notice. The workers were asked to' be off the premises within a ; few hours, Mr -McCrory said. ; The women finally left the Bedford Row factory at 9.30 p.m. after an agreement had been signed withdrawing the dismissal notices and providing for a normal return to work on Monday, he said. A guarantee was also given over the manner, of issuing any .further notices.
