Building permits- issued *' last month for new dwellings in the Christchurch area . reached .the highest , monthly level since July last year : •' ; Permits for 105 new dwellings, including houses and flat units, were issued last month, providing only three fewer homes than last July. Only 80 new dwellings were provided in April. Permits for alterations to be made to existing homes 1 by builders or carpenters were up from 142'ih April to 152 last month. Commercial ' work, however, fell from 90 to 74 permits. ! 1 ’
