April retail sales up by 22 p.c.
PA , Wellington The total value of retail sales in April was' $725.8 million, an increase of 22 per cent over the value of sales in April, 1980, $594.8 million, says the Government Statistician (Dr J. H. Darwin). , He says that after correct tion for’seasonal changes in purchasing patterns and for differing numbers of trading days in each month, sales in April, 1981, show an increase of 1.4 per cent compared with March, 1981. After similar adjustments the sales for April, 1981, were 22.5 per cent higher than those for April, 1980.
