Peninsula vicar

The Rev. P. H. Tovey has been appointed vicar of the parish of Banks Peninsula. Mr Tovey has recently returned from missionary service in Pakistan, and will take up his new post in October.

Mr Tovey had his theological training in New Zealand and was ordained in England in 1946. He became a curate in Kent. From 1949 to 1964 he served as a missionary in West Pakistan, then returned to New Zealand, where he became assistant priest at Bryndwr, Christchurch, then vicar of Mayfield and Mount Somers. Mr Tovey returned to Pakistan for further missionar} r service in 1973.

The Rev. J. G. Sheaf has been appointed vicar of St Chad's, Linwood. Mr Sheaf was ordained in 1973 and served curacies at Linwood, Papanui, and Ashburton. After a short period as priest-in-charge of New Brighton, he was appointed to Ross and South Westland in 1978.

He will take up his new post in late August. ■
