Heavy track will favour Localism today

Blenheim Localism was one of the star performers in the bog at Nelson when (he gained a second and a win. He was allowed to by-pass the first day of the i Marlborough Trotting Club’s winter meeting on Saturday, but will be on hand for the Trevor Hodgen Handicap, main race on the second day today, r

Localism handled the messyßichmond Park track with [confidence. but it is expected [that he will be even more at lease in the conditions at iWalcrlca. There was drying again yesterday following a frost, but it is unlikely that • going will be much better than on Saturday.-Localism will start from 10m. a mark unlikely to prove insurmountable. Roseland Adover is unbeaten on the Nelson-Blen-heim circuit and. after his decisive win in the Royal Tavern Handicap on Saturday it seems unlikely that he will be far away al the end. Colin de Filippi will drive Roseland Adover today. Robin Swain will continue his association with Rocking ; Berry and Ricky May will [stay with Willie Coon. ; neiiing z.erro wncn tnat runner rushed clear soon after. -Just when it looked as though Roseland Charger would win, Roseland Adover responed in great style and beat the mare by a length. The extra 400 m today will be to the advantage of Roseland Adover, which on Saturday paced much more, smoothly than he did at Nelson, where he was inclined to mix his gait. Rocking Berry won the Caltex Gold Cup and then went a sound race for third . to Localism last Tuesday. He has had a chance to freshen a little and this could give • him quite an advantage over the majority of his rivals which have had three races. Sioux failed to justify favouritism on the first day when he broke at the start. He made up quite a lot of ground and was not as far .back as his twelfth placing itaight suggest. | Rosewood Charger went another sound race and obvi.ously appreciated the firmer track, she should make another bold showing and, along with Regal Law and Worthy Del, she should be' among the others accorded consideration. . Regal Law in particular, .looks a grand winning' chance. He did not have the best of luck on Saturday when he came solidly for third. He seems to have improved with each race on the circuit and it will be surprising if he fails this time.

Fonzarelli, part-owned and trained at Blenheim by David Gardiner, looks set to gain an overdue win the second leg the Mcßae's Fashions Handicap.
