‘Passing buck’ on cinemas
PA Wellington Film exhibitors have accused the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) of ‘‘passing the buck” in his assertion that violence and sexual content in films contribute to a de-1 cline in young people's moral standards. I Mr Muldoon told the Returned Services’ Association I that motion pictures depicted ■ violence and showed abnormal sexual behaviour as the I norm, and that some cinema ‘ advertising was flagrantly i suggestive. i The Motion Picture Exhibitors' Association said that the Government had only itself to blame. Its move to delicence cinemas would mean that it lost control of who exhibited pictures, and where.
