Airport traffic
Sir.—l recently had cause to deliver a friend to the Christchurch Airport, for a flight to Auckland. After the fully booked DCIO had departed, so did about 100 other onlookers and to our cars we all moved. Alas, a traffic jam resulted. Only one of the feecollecting officers was on duly and I feel that one should not have to wait 13 minutes to leave the airport, because of a second official not being on duty. Surely those involved with airport management would realise that there are likely to be peak times and off times, and that they could plan accordingly. A few-years ago, one used to pay as one entered and left fairlv quickly. That idea might still have some merit, especially when the wages of those involved in collecting the money are taken into consideration. — Yours, etc., GRAHAM MARR. May 23, 1981. [Mr M. W. Atkinson, Airport Director, replies; “Any inconvenience caused to Mr Marr is regretted. Unfortunately, Mr Marr does not give the date on which the delay occurred, and there have been no further complaints of delay received, indicating the date. May I suggest that Mr Marr communicate with me. so that I may further investigate the matter.”]
