N.Z. link in Aust. killings

NZPA Cairns The police at Cairns, in :northern Queensland, are awaiting medical records from New Zealand which they hope will identify positively a woman found killed with her husband at an isolated farm. The charred remains of the couple, believed to be William Clarke, aged 36, and his New Zealand wife, Grayvda, aged 35, were found in the burnt remains of their farmhouse at Julatten, north of Mareeba, on Sunday. It is believed that they

were killed in the early hours of the morning, as they slept. Both were hit with blasts from a 12-gauge shotgun fired at close range; The house was then set on fire. The Cairns police superintendent, Mr A. Murphy, said yesterday that dental records had been sought from New Zealand. It was hoped that these records would positively identify. Mrs Clarke,', who, it was believed, had moved to Australia in 1964 after meeting her Englishborn husband in New Zealand.
