Cinemas busy in holidays
Rain during the second week of the school holidays drew many children to Christchurch cinemas. Full houses meant that some patrons were turned away from the popular adventure and space films. One cinema manager, Mr P; -H. Gray, reflected the general opinion of cinema managers when he said, “It whs an average May holiday, with.wet weather making the second week good.” Thp.manager of the Fer irymead,Historic Park, Mr D R. Muir,; was happy with attendance but- felt the we< days had kept some people away. . The Court Theatre said its school holiday encouraged audience.particrpation, have been a draw for children, most house# being almost full. .../ "
