Bar girls strike

Business continued as usual at the Rangiora R.S.A. clubrooms last evening in spite of a strike by five staff yesterday over the dismissal of another worker on Tuesdav.

The club's president. Mr J. K. Henderson, said that as far as he was concerned the staff had terminated their employment and the club was free to engage new staff. The secretary of the Canterbury Hotel Workers’ Union. Mr G. D. Harding, said last evening that the workers engaged to replace the workers on strike were rejected by the union, which would ask the Brewery Workers’ Union and perhaps the Canterbury Trades Council for help. No valid reason had beer given for the worker’s dismissal, Mr Harding said.
