‘No kids’ sign gets public support

Scoffs lunch-bar in Hereford Street. Christchurch, which has a “no kids” sign on its door, had been busier day than usual on Wednesday, after publicity about the sign, said the manager, Mr Warren Barnes. ’ “Sorry, no kids, no prams, no pushchairs. Thank you,” the sign 'says. “Most custotners aren’t interested in it; but about a dozen took time out to congratulate us on our stand,” Mr Barnes said. He had only had one telephone call opposing it. Mr Barnes believes that the lunch-bar’s food is not suitable for children, and he did not want unruly' children disrupting clients . during their meals. .. ; ,y> "Two other.- .restaurant owners in the city and two prominent entertainment personalities also favoured the stand,” he said. The support. made him “more determined” not to alter, or remove, the sign. Mr Barnes was convinced that the only reason other restaurants had not done the same was because they were too frightened.
