Cook Is. airfare protest
The Government of the Cook Islands wanted its agreement with Air New Zealand renegotiated, but neither the airline nor the New Zealand Government would take any notice, said the Islands’ Premier (Sir Thomas Davis) in Dunedin last evening.
The matter of the air service between New Zealand and the Islands was “a very ' painful one indeed.”
The agreement had given a monopoly to’ Air New Zealand, and the fares in and out of . the Cook Islands were “the highest in the world.”
“1 don’t know of any ■higher, or coming anywhere as near as high,” Sir Thomas, said.
