$ll,000 spent on instruments
The Christchurch School of Instrumental Music bought instruments valued at nearly $ll,OOO last year, the annual meeting of the school has been told. The school’s publicity officer, Mrs R. Henaghan, said that the purchases had been made partly with a $5OOO grant from the Telethon fund. The instruments bought included 17 major items, one of them a tuba valued at $2700. The school needed the big number of instruments because it. had established a symphonic wind band last year. The school has decided to spend another $7OOO on instruments this year. The meeting was told that the school’s roll has increased to nearly 1300 pupils. Fees have been increased by 15 per cent this year.
