Auckland rates rise
PA Auckland Auckland City ratepayers wilLhave to put $37.8 million into their council coffers this year, 14.2 per cent more than last year. This is the rates requirements recommended by the council’s resources and organisation committee. : The recommended residential rate of 13.256 c in the
dollar is down from 15.585 c last year. All other types of ratepayers would pay 19.949 c, up from 18.702 c. The council's proposed net expenditure would have required only a 12.8 per cent increase in the total rates, but the Auckland Regional Authority levy of $B.B million — up SL2 million, a 16.8 per cent increase — was higher than expected.
