PA Wellington The Government has reappointed five directors of Air New Zealand for a further seven months. Among the five, whose terms expire on May 31, is • the chairman, .Mr C. W. .. Mace. The other board members involved are Mr R. B. Grierson, Mr M. F. Hunter, ' Captain J. H. Register, and Captain R. T. Mounsey.
The. Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said at a press conference yesterday that the Cabinet had agreed on the reappointments at its regular meeting yesterday morning. • -. The reason for the- decision was the preservation of continuity until the airline was past the- events which were continuing at present. When the directors were appointed up to May 31
fife Mahon Report on the Mount Erebus disaster had not been presented; "We had thought we would be past the immediate problems of the airline by this time, but the Mahon Report has changed all that,” Mr Muldoon said. “We are reappointing them for a period so that there is continuity at the board level through this difficult period.”
