Canterbury strengthened its chances'for the national men’s colts hockey title with a 2-0 win over Wellington on a soft ground at Hobson Park, Auckland-, yesterday. >
The team’s third success in the Newmans-Adidas,tourna-ment came after early attacks by Wellington were repulsed by a dogged defence. , 7 .
After a scoreless.first spell the. Canterbury halves gave their ■ skilful- forwards an abundance of ball down both flanks. Brilliant passing enabled Warwick Shillito to score from a rebound.
Later, ■ from a free hit outside the circle Simon Tilley pushed the ball through a. defender’s legs and Cbris Leslie banged the ball in for a fine goal. \ \ Outstanding forwards for Canterbury were Shillito, Don McKenzie and. Leslie, with Tilley, and David Penfold 'feeding the forwards well.
