t . A Wellington A conuaci worth $1.2 million has been let to Wilkins and Davies Construction, Ltd, for the second stage of the Clyde Dam left bank excavation. . The member of Parliament .for Otago (Mr W. E. Cooper) said the contract
was for a period of nine months and covered the construction of roads and cableway benches, the installation' of culverts and the excavation of more than 400,000 cubic metres of rock.'
“The work at Clyde Dam is advancing well to meet the . mid-1982 river diversion date,” he said/’
“The total spent on the Clutha Valley development is now $75 million, of which $47 million has been spent on construction work • and the remainder, on servicing charges, such as land purchase . and compensation, plant purchases and irrigation, investigation.” .
