2 die in Otira Gorge crash
Greymouth reporter Two men died when their car left the road at the Otira end of the Otira Gorge on Tuesday evening. The bodies and the car were discovered at 8 a.m. yesterday. The Greymouth police have released the name of one of the victims. He was John Korako Rayner, a railwayman, of Reefton. The name of the second man will not be released until next-of-kin have been informed.
The bodies were recovered and taken to Greymouth yesterday morning. ’ The Press Association reported from Wellington that a girl, aged 14. was killed in a car accident at Opiki on Tuesday evening. She was Megan Foss, of Palmerston North. The 17-year-old driver and another passenger were taken to hospital. The police said the car hit a truck parked in a narrow, dark road.
