Banks in disarray AUSTRALIAN SALES
Bank : stocks closed in disarray yesterday — with the CBC appearing to serve notice that it would not be a pushover for the takeoverintent National Bank. The CBC said it would require more details on the proposed take-over from the National before the board would consider the matter. However, CBC’s chairman (Sir Robert Crichton-Brown) said an issue of significance was- the relativity of the price-earnings ratios of the ANZ’s offer for the CBA and the NationaTs proposed two-for-one share exchange for the CRC. ' CBC shares finished 12c higher at 592 c after trading as low as 550 c
