Dead drivers named
Pa New Plymouth The New Plymouth police yesterday released the names of both drivers killed in a head-on collision on Monday evening. They were Steven Grant Fairbrother, aged 21, of New Plymouth, who died in-
stantly, and Alison Joan Tamati, aged 45, of Waitara, who died in Taranaki Base Hosital, New Plymouth, soon after the accident.
Mr Fairbrother was the sole occupant of his car, but three passengers from the other vehicle were in a satisfactory condition in Taranaki Base Hospital yesterday. The accident happened just
after 7.30 p.m. on a flat stretch of road near New Plymouth. The Press Association reported from Tauranga that a Mount Maunganui seaman was killed when his motorcycle and a van collided on the Tauranga-Waihi Highway,
near the Wairoa River, at noon on Monday. He was Graeme Stenson, aged 23, single, of Mount Maunganui. The Tauranga police said Mr Stenson was dead on arrival at the Tauranga Hospital.
