Milton Friedman

, Sir, — Milton Friedman has left a lasting impression on New Zealand. The rush by academics, politicians and businessmen to rubbish Mr Friedman has revealed just how socialist some of our leaders are. Small wonder taxation, bureaucratic whip-crack-ing and economic instability are increasing. Mr Friedman’s simple logic and honest approach to economic and social problems has been a godsend to me as a commerce student. Three years of Keynesian pseudo-economics and a lifetime of welfare state propaganda have been discarded for the free enterprise philosophy. Mr Friedman has helped me realise that free enterprise is the only honest and efficient path towards a better New Zealand. — Yours, etc., G. G. SMALL. May 7, 1981.
