Market closes strongly
The New Zealand sharemarket finished the week on a strong note in busy trading yesterday. The N.Z.U.C. index rose 2.26 points to close at 671.99., for a net gain on the week of 18.72 points. Dominion Breweries gained a further 8c to 135 c after an Auckland broker’s recommendation on the issue, and investors continued to favour Wattie, New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative, the ANZ Banking Group (N.Z.), and Carter Holt. Profit-takers again moved into N.Z. Forest Products, ahead of its result later this month. Ceramco, Skellerup, and U.E.B. were other issues to ease.
