Springbok tour

Sir,—One would think the self-righteous anti-tour protesters had never heard about the starving millions, the invasion of Afghanistan, Cambodia, the Russian persecution of Jews, Christians and minority groups. The list could go on and on. One can understand Bill Andersen and Trevor Richards not dwelling on these matters but what about the saints in our churches? Like good Christians, are they turning the other cheek or putting the telescope to the blind eye? The anti-tour hypocrites are very concerned about the rights of black South Africans; yet would deny New Zealanders the very rights they seek for others. We should guard jealously the rights we have and never give in to those who threaten disruption to obtain their objectives. — Yours, etc. N. R. NEILL, Ashburton. May 5, 1981.
