‘Nun’s killers arrested’
NZPA-Reuter New York The former United States ambassador to El Salvador, Robert White, said yesterday that the Salvadorean Government had arrested six National Guardsmen over the killings in December of three American nuns and a lay worker.
“We have known for weeks if not months — rot only that the security forces are responsible, but who in the security forces are responsible," he said. Mr White, sacked by the Reagan Administration for publicly opposing its El Salvador policy, said the Government of President Jose Napoleon Duarte was engaged in a “big charade”
instead of an investigation because it knew within three days who was responsible for the crime.
