Bomb sent to Prince
NZPA ' London Alert British Post Office staff in London have intercepted a package bomb addressed to Prince Charles. Staff at the west central sorting, office, High Holborn, identified the bomb during routine sorting of mail addressed to Buckingham Palace., The device,' described as “viable” by Scotland Yard, was in a brown padded en-
velope similar to those sent to two Tory members of Parliament, Jill Knight and Barry Porter, a few days a B°-. The device was placed to one side and later defused by a member of Scotland Yard’s bomb squad, who were examining it in a bid to trace the sender. Scotland Yard said: “We' are not prepared to discuss the device, but it was viable
and not designed to kill, but to distress and maim.” .The package was posted in the west central London postal district earlier in the day. Later a man telephoned the British Press Association claiming to represent the “E.R.A.” said it had posted the device. This was thought to be the English Republican Association, which Scotland Yard said it had never heard of. L
