Two teams in bottom three
Christchurch has two teams in the bottom three of the Rothmans Soccer League after Woolston W.M.C. and Rangers both suffered losses yesterday. For the first time, Woolston has dropped down into the last three after hovering in the region in recent weeks. Its 1-3 loss to Hani-mex-North Shore leaves it with just seven points from its first 10 games. Brian McKeown gave North Shore a dream start with a goal after 40 seconds. Woolston’s only reply was a penalty by Robbie Larter shortly before the end. North Shore generally dominated the match and was superior to Woolston in most areas of play. Auckland has not been a happy hunting ground for Woolston this year. It has lost all four of its matches there to date.
Christchurch Mogal United scored more goals against Hamilton yesterday than it
has in its previous six matches put together.
David Jackson scored twice, Michael Cantin and lan Marshall once each for United to give it a comfortable win. Results: Rangers 1 (Ralph Trowbridge), Takapuna City 3 (Barry Weymouth, Roger Collins, Martin Hill). Halftime 0-1.
Wellington Diamond United 0, Mount Wellington 0. Hanimex-North Shore 3 (Keith Hobbs, Brian McKeown two), Woolston W.M.C. 1 (Robbie Larter penalty). Half-time 1-0. Hamilton.o, Christchurch Mogal United 4 .(David Jackson two, Michael Cantin, lan Marshall). Half-time 0-0.
