General forecast: As the anti-cyclone moves across New Zealand, it is expected to weaken but it should maintain fine weather in most districts during the day. A cold front should move over the South Island during the day, bringing a few showers and a cool south-west change. District forecast: Canterbury: Fine, apart from some cloudy areas; moderate north-easterlies about the coast; a cool south-west change should spread north during the day, with isolated showers developing along the coast.
Nelson-Marlborough: Fine; moderate winds from the northerly quarter, tending south-westerly oh the Kaikoura coast during the day, with isolated showers. Westland, Buller: Cloudy, with a few showers developing from the morning, but the weather : should become fine again from the south during the afternoon. Outlook: Mainly fine, but a few showers are likely in the south-west of the South Island.
