Coast referees adopt new penalty rule

. Greymouth reporter Unlike’ its Canterbury counterpart, the West Coast Rugby League Referees’ Association has adopted the new differential penalty rule from the start of the season. Canterbury rugby league referees have said that they are awaiting official information from the N.Z.R.F.L. . However, the West Coast associa-

tion has a circular letter from the N.Z.R.FJL. saying that the new rule would be in force this season, and stating that it provided that a direct goal-kick could not be taken from a scrum infringement The new rule was introduced on the coast for the first games on Sunday, April 5, and appeared to produce no problems.
