El Salvador

Sir, — A great deal of correspondence space and time is being devoted to the Springbok tour and our responsibilities under the Gleneagles Agreement. Hardly a voice has been heard on another matter of human rights, El Salvador. Violence and repression in Central America clearly have the backing of the United States Government Presumably the existence of A.N.Z.U.S. demonstrates a relationship between the United States and New Zealand. The absence of our disapproval implies our approval. No official expression of disapproval is forthcoming. Therefore we support the supply of arms and “advisers” to El Salvador? — Yours, etc., K. FEA. April 16, 1981.
