Javelin yachting
The experienced Canterbury crew of Dave Elder and Brian Lamb led all the way to win the invitation race at the New Zealand Javelin class yachting championship at .Lyttelton yesterday. Elder and Lamb caused some surprise by comfortably staying ahead of the highly regarded Auckland representatives, Graeme Duncalf and Dean Coleman, in fresh conditions. However, most of the other favoured contenders literally disqualified themselves by starting on the 4min signal, and failing to
return when a general recall was ordered. 7 Only 10 of the 21 starters began correctly, and there were seven official finishers.
