Rugby Union rules on jerseys
FA Wellington The Rugby Union's council has decided that the host union should change jerseys when uniform conflicts arise in provincial matches. The union’s annual general meeting asked the council to make a ruling on the matter, after a motion from Taranaki. Taranaki and Waikato last year became embroiled in a squabble before a Ranfurly Shield match at Hamilton, and ironically the motion was seconded by the chairman of the Waikato Union, Mr Frank O'Connor. The Rugby Union chairman. Mr Ces Blazey.'beginning his twentyfifth year of service on the council, said that the Rugby Union had received a letter from the Scottish Rugby Union. As a consequence of the letter, and discussions Mr Blazey held with Scottish officials during the International Rugby Board meeting last month, four balls have been sent to Scotland for squad members to practice with. : The Scottish Rugby Union has also made the normal request for a touring team for host unions to provide scrum machines and rucking bags at each venue. Mr Blaze.v said that four Scottish journalists had indicated that they ■ would travel with the team. The Scottish tour will begin with a match against King Country at •Taumarunui on Wednesday, May '27, and the itinerary includes test matches at Dunedin and Auckland.
