‘His Royal eyeful’

NZPA staff correspondent London Millions of British television viewers got a prolonged view of Julie Burton’s posterior as Prince Charles watched her struggle over a wall at the Anakiwa Outward Bound School. 8.8. C. television showed Miss Burton battle with the wall in its main nine o’clock news on Tuesday evening. The camera zoomed in ruthlessly on her as she heaved herself over with the help of her friends. Fleet Street tabloids had a field day on Wednesday with more pictures of poof Julie’s seat — and her panties. “Curvy Julie Burton really got her knickers in a twist ... in front of Prince Charles,” the “Sun” reported under the headline, “His Royal eyeful.” As Miss Burton struggled to get over the wall “the legs of her skimpy shorts inched upwards ... revealing more and more of her flesh-col-oured knickers,” it told its readers. The “Daily Star,” under the headline, “Bottoms up — a cheeky eyeful for Charlie,” said: “Blushing Prince Charles got a close encounter of the cheeky kind ... with a nice bit of New Zealand rump. The girl letting it all hang out was pretty Auckland secretary, Julie Burton.” Reporters were apparently so busy watching Miss Burton that they did not have time to look very closely-’ at the wall she was climbing over. The “Daily Express’” said if was 25ft, the Daily Star”'made it 20ft, and the “Sun” put’it at 30ft.

Miss Burton was quoted in the reports as saying: “I -didn’t' reajise my- panties would shqw under my sports shorts ... I couldn’t think about what the Prince was getting an eyeful of I was far too keen to get to the top.

I could hear them laughing but I didn’t have time to feel embarrassed.” Some New Zealanders in London say they think Britons should now be given a chance of seeing Miss Burton from the front view.
