Eastern Suburb* eventuaUy rediscovered some of its 4980 championship-winning form to beat Marirt-Weatern Suburba, 246, when 'the Cant<rt>ury ruMby league club premiership began at the Show Grounds last evening. it was a far from convincing performance, though. For the first hour Eastern made aa many or more errors as a tired Marist team, and all of Eastern’s four tries were claimed by its forwards in the final 22 minutes. As its opposition fell away, the Eastern pack managed to string together a number of convincmg bursts, with Carbon, Kevin Placid and Dick Ngataki prominent.
