Police watch airports for missing pair
PA Auckland The police at Auckland Airport have found no trace of a missing Australian toddler and her father, whom the Australian police believe may be in New Zealand. The police have checked every flight into Auckland since being alerted on ’’mday about the missing Leani Allen, aged three, and her father, Mr Colin Allen. They have also checked passenger lists of flights from Australia since Saturday without success, and said the Allens might not have travelled under their own names.
An international search for the girl and her father was mounted when Leani’s sister, Jade, was found wandering along at Sydney Airport last week-end. Leani and Jade were to have spent last week-end with their father, who is estranged from the girls’ mother, his de facto wife. He has been granted access to the children. Jade told the airport authorities that her father left her to go to the toilet and did not return. A car which had been hired by Mr Allen was found abandoned at the airport.
